These portraits have been taking place throughout January and they need to be finished before the start of february. It has been pretty successful so far and Alan Greenman who is the head of the medical photography department has said that he is pleased with the type of images we are taking.
I gave Alan four dates in January that i was available to do the portraits, these days being:
- 16th January
- 20th January
- 23rd January
- 30th January
Initially i was very nervous about taking these photographs because i was concerned as to what kind of look Alan wanted. However, after looking at the portraits that were taken for last years awards i feel much more confident that the work i am producing is the kind that he wants. Alan said that the type of image he wanted was to have the staff member in there working environment and the look that he was going for is quietly confident. So far most of the portraits have been taken and there is just the 30th left to go and take photographs. After this Alan will use all the photographs that have been given to him and choose the ones he feels are the best for the posters and promotion for the evening.
The awards themselves are taking place on Friday 24th February at Pirelli Stadium in Burton On Trent. Me and Jo who has also been at the hospital taking photographs have been asked to set up a small corner on the night to take some group shots. We are currently putting together a form that people can fill in to give us there details and also something for us to keep a record of the image number for that certain group. This form will also include a receipt for the amount payed, and information about the charity that some of the money will be going to. We will also include our names and telephone numbers on there incase anybody wishes to contact us in the future about possible job opportunities. We have discussed with Alan and we will be giving one option of a 7"x5" mounted print. The mounts are going to be supplied by Alan and we will be taking care of the printing. We have suggested charging between 10-15 pounds for each print.
Here are a few of my portraits taken so far for the awards:
