Whilst i was on the National Diploma i entered a competition with a small group for the car brand Chevrolet. We ended up winning the UK competition and then went on to win the European one too. It involved us taking a chevrolet car on location and making our idea which was an Alice In Wonderland theme into a reality. I do like commercial work like this, however it is not my favourite type of photography.
On the first year of the course i have worked with clients such as The Eden Project, The National Forest, and a country clothing company.
In my own time i have done several paid weddings and paid location shoots for some of my friends who have wanted images for modeling portfolios. I did a wedding for a woman who i knew and then from there i have photographed two other weddings.. if you do a good job then people recommend you to other friends or family of theirs and ultimately thats how my other wedding jobs have came along.
At the moment i am in talks with a friend of mine who is looking for me to create studio and location images for her new modeling portfolio. We are in discussion about the types of images that she wants and locations she is interested in. I have told her to research into looks and locations she likes and then we are going to meet up and discuss dates and times when we are both available for shoots.
If i have the choice and i go out and take photographs by myself i am always looking at buildings and the different ways that colour and light make places look. I am interested in abstract photography and seeing the world in a different way, at a different angle and perspective. i like to look at the fine details and this had made me think that i would really like to try my hand at industrial photography and architectural work. Looking at exteriors and interiors. I like clean lines and bold colours so i think this would be a good avenue for me to pursue.
I have recently just moved to Derby so i am going to research into photographers in the area that produce industrial and architectural imagery. I am really excited about this because Derby is a much bigger place than Burton and i am keen to explore the opportunities it has for me in the areas i am interested in. I hope that i can find some interesting companies and photographers in Derby and hopefully some clients!
